Mud ( 2012 ) :-

With such a busy week i had with Many TV Series i some how managed to find a little time to watch this movie " Mud " but to my surprise this was one hell of a kickass movie worth every minute spent. Had watched True detective on how Matthew McConaughey performed but after seeing this movie i came to a understanding that this performance comes quite naturally for him and he was astonishing for sure. His body language his too unique and the way he carries any movies is very impressive. Thought this movie was a drama but instead Cat and dog chase with revenge and love being core plot . This is sure one of must watch of Mathew not to be missed. For sure this will be my second fav movie of his after Lincoln lawyer. Damn awesome . Dont miss it

Thegidi ( 2014 ) Tamil

As so many talks going on regarding this movies inspiration from korean movie , i just dont wanna go into that part and rather lets see how this movie was ...!! A daring plot with all new faces definitely needs some guts to make it and starting from the title card this movie captures your attention especially with a nice Background score during the scrolls. This movie being a suspense thriller , any small clue could became a spoiler to the audience who haven't seen it yet. So in short this movie is about life of a Newly joined detective played by Ashok Selvan ( as vetri ) whose life turns upside down when he is been exploited with a brilliant scheme sketched by his current employer relating to scan on life insurance and how Vetri tackles this situation with his brilliance forms rest of the story.

Movie was definitely engaging and sure this was a very new concept to our industry ( at-least ) and the reality of it being happening in real life will shook our heart and is spine chilling.  I was able to catch up the suspense element at mid of the movie itself when things started to fall in place but that said , the suspense was nicely carried throughout the entire film. But there were so many places we might wonder how a detective himself can make a blunt mistakes specifically when he starts calling all people from his friends mobile phone and this was just one point as there were so many....still these weren't that damaging to the core plot , but the choice of characters especially heroin Janani Iyer ( as Madhu ) was a big let down . She donot knew even a single percent how to act and at same time event vetri was not good at expressions be it any scene romantic or fun or thrill  he has only one expression to give which was again a letdown to this movie. The way movie ended so silently was blunt but a end surprise was somewhat okay yet i feel it didn't convince us and there was always some factor pulling it back. Saying all this doesn't mean this movie is bad and can be definitely watched once for a different experience and for sure will entertain any audience liking thriller genre. A average movie for sure .

300 : Rise of an Empire ( 2014 )

After a much await and unexpected houseful theater , i had chance to witness one hell of a action packed movie and feel as if blessed. Though as lot of others say , i may not even call it as sequel as this story movies along with its predecessor King Leonidas who marched 300 men against a mighty god king. Though the later one talks war on land , this film covers navy part of it led by Themistokles ( by Sullivan Stapleton ) which also played a important role during this war in real history. As name says , this movie brings entire Greek empire to one mighty force to go against the great king.

That being said if it was not for Artemisia played by Eva Green , this movie wouldn't have had that zing in it. Stunning performance by her and she definitely stood out. Sullivan did under perform a bit because he was no spartan and he couldn't bring the same ferocity and aggressiveness as Gerard butler , but i assume they purposefully didn't give that impact to this character much because they want to differentiate with the way Spartans do. Even when Themistokles addresses his soldiers , we could get that kick in it or gives any impact to the audience as much as we remember every dialogue spoken by King Leonidas in previous film . Unfortunate we cannot stop ourself comparing with its later part but yet this movie has his own catching points.

Added to that this movie also covers a little bit of Xerxes and potrays reasons for his wage towards vengeance. What makes this movie be a edge of the seat experience is its breath taking picturization , should admit that it was just mind blowing every scene on the sea. Every action sequence would capture us with no blink of our eye . sure was brilliantly made especially the war of ships in sea. Having all said i still feel this is somewhat not upto the mark of its previous predecessor because we miss spartans until they are introduced at last few minutes. This movie neither starts at some point nor it ends at any ,leaving Xerxes out there breathing giving us a hint that there is still a sequel evident which we might except shortly. Overall this was no boring movie and definitely was a brilliant one not to be missed. Enjoy the Greek empire in march , while Spartans roar .. huh..huh..huh......

some of cool quotes :-

Queen Gorgo : It begins as a whisper... a promise... the lightest of breezes dances above the death cries of 300 men. That breeze became a wind. A wind that my brothers have sacrificed. A wind of freedom... a wind of justice... a wind of vengeance.

Themistocles: Better we show them, we chose to die on our feet, rather than live on our knees!

Starbuck ( 2011 ) - French

A perfect feel good movie with a complex theme. I thought this was kind of similar to Bollywood movie Vicky donor only to realize that except the core concept this is totally different. A movie about a sperm donar who was notified that he has fathered around 533 people in which around 142 kids have filed a legal lawsuit to reveal his identity . Later part shows how he tries to keep his anonymity with help of his lawyer friend fighting against this lawsuit and at same time starts to emotionally bond with his children while he tries to understand few of them personally. Patrick as  David Wozniak also known as Starbuck has acted superbly well. Though this is something which is no close to reality but yet its sure a bold concept from the director and it just keeps you entertained every minute. As david starts to explore life of his children , he creates some impact on their life with his presence and gives the viewers a very nice feel. A scene were everyone , every children of Starbuck meet near a fishing bank for camping while sharing their joy and happiness would really touch our heart seeing such a extended family of brothers and sisters. At the same time during last 20 minutes , there is a small conversation from Davids father was heart touching too...!!! This is one good movie not to be missed. Enjoy the show and think twice before being a sperm donor :))

The Book Thief ( 2013 ) :-

This movie is about a young girl who was recently adopted by couples living in Germany during hilter regime and her obsession towards books 'n' reading when things around her shattered slowly due to poverty , starvation and war.  Movie is very very slow and travels in its own pace but what matters is the story , a very beautiful little story portrayed in a elaborated way and especially it was good looking at life of people who survived during fuhrer regime , it allowed us to understand their life style , their pain and how one dictators decision has huge impact on so many life's though this movie concentrates on one little girl .

Sophie Nélisse as Liesel Meminger acted really well and the bond between her adopted parents were very well captured. Added to that , picturization was very stunning and had really good visuals throughout the film like initial top angle shot , Railway station scene etc... Her obsession towards books were so touchy especially when she reads H.G.wells book was damn cool and i am sure any book lovers will have that same nostalgic feel while watching. As of core plot or to know if there was any message from this movie , well i guess this movie has failed in that regards though they say words are life but it wasn't that impacting. But just as a movie alone this is sure a pleasant slow ride and for sure this is not for every movie fans , it would attract only few sets of audience and for them this will be a virtual treat a poetic drama. Added to that , the death itself narrating the story was different and new , it was sure impressive .Overall one more good movie to watch.

Some of my fav quotes in movie :-

Narrator: [Narrator/Death] : The only truth that I truly know is that I am haunted by humans | One small fact: you are going to die. Despite every effort, no one lives forever. Sorry to be such a spoiler. My advice is when the time comes, don't panic. It doesn't seem to help |

Max Vandenburg: Words are life, Liesel. All those pages, they're for you to fill. I'm not lost to you, Liesel. You'll always be able to find me in your words. That's where I'll live on.

Narrator: [Death] I have seen a great many things. I have attended all the world's worst disasters, and worked for the greatest of villains. And I've seen the greatest wonders. But it's still like I said it was: no one lives forever. When I finally came for Liesel, I took selfish pleasure in the knowledge that she had lived her ninety years so wisely. By then, her stories had touched many souls. Some of whom I came to know in passing. Max, whose friendship lasted almost as long as Liesel. Almost. In her final thoughts, she saw the long list of lives that merged with hers. Her three children. Her grandchildren. Her husband. Among them, lit like lanterns, were Hans and Rosa, her brother, and the boy whose hair remained the color of lemons forever. I wanted to tell the book thief she was one of the few souls that made me wonder what it was to live; but in the end, there were no words. Only peace. The only truth I truly know is that I am haunted by humans.

American Hustle (2013)
Though they say at title card that most of the movie was inspired from true events but not sure how far this is true. Story in simple words about life of a con man who was trapped by FBI later offered a chance to assist them in capturing many other white collar crimes inreturn for their freedom from any procecution. Christian Bale performed as Con man ( as Irving Rosenfeld  ) paring up with Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper as Richie DiMaso an FBI Agent . This movie revolves around these few characters and yes there is one more the mayor played by Jeremy Renner. Though this had a gripping plot but really failed to the core to keep the screenplay interesting. Very sluggish and slow indeed , will sure test your patience with long run of reels. This is sure not upto standards for a actor like Christian bale. Though he did his best to the role he played , he even put on weight for this but still this movie lags to the core except last 15 minutes when CB plays his cards which will comfort us somewhat considering the pain we going through first half. The girls amy and jennifer are the only insurance you have for choosing this movie as they are the only most comforting faces in this movie . Bradley did his best as Hypersensitive FBI Agent but how long.... not really impressive but there was one character performance stood out from the rest and that would be Jeremy renner as Mayor , he really did his character well and atleast he was one who make us feel their is family , emotion , friendship , sacrifice in this movie. But apart form that this movie is very average one watchable once and i am sure selecting it for second time will give headache. Watch at will and this is not for all movie likers.....!! Might impress only specific audience. Nothing more.

12 years a slave ( 2013 )

Such a captivating biographical movie of Mr.Solomon Northup a black man and his painful journey while he was kidnapped , slaved and sold in a time where Slaves were legal in United States. Though he was a citizen bearing right papers , he was deceived , abducted without his conscious and sold later to highest bidder whom they have to address as " Masters ".  This movie is about Solomon survival through 12 years of slavery while they been labored to work in fields under inhuman conditions inducing them to great deal of hardship and how he finally breathes freedom falls rest of the story. Chiwetel Ejiofor as Northup acted well , his emotions and reactions seeing through the tortures happening around him was portrayed very nicely and will sure disturb any viewers watching. At times you even couldn't resist tears seeing through the painful treatment which goes with slavery and how easily people kill slaves without any consent or remorse . The period at which this story was happening , slavery was predominant everywhere in many countries and this movie would bring out the real face of slavery to people so to make them understand the ordeal and make us empathize the situation they used to be in.

Keeping main cast apart there were few characters whose performance was just mind-blowing like Benedict Cumberbatch ( as ford ) , Brad Pitt ( as Bass ) , they come in screen for very short period but they impress everyone with their stunning acting and they are a proof that humanity still exist in people. Michael Fassbender ( as Epps ) played antagonist role and was a real stunner living upto his name. He fitted to the character really well and it looked like a piece of cake for him walking through this character. There was one other character worth mentioning here and her name is Lupita Nyong'o ( as Patsey ) , her performance was the key to this movie be it while she runs away to get a soap as she felt stinking or when she begs to be killed . these scenes were too disturbing and melanchollic in nature and she suceeds in bringing that emotion to the audience watching this movie. For sure she was also the one who brought right impact to this movie overall.

As a biographical movie , this stands out for sure but it was sad that it only covers the slavery part but i am sure viewers would have wished to see more of his freedom later and how he went against people who slaved him in court of justice , but instead all we get is the small notes at end credits Solomon northup is one man's life but slavery is a much bigger picture , rather was a huge problem those days and i guess this movie never covered that part were this movie failed hugely in that regards. So instead of being a inspiring film , as said at start this movie falls into biographical genre alone talking about one man and his walk towards freedom , his persistence nothing more. Chiwetel Ejiofor did his best as Solomon northup but not to the best. That said this is sure one other movie not to be missed watching , a above average one thats all. This is one movie made for Oscars . Nothing more nothing less.
