Anjali Menon's Bangalore Days ( 2014 ) Malayalam - " A movie with Heart and Soul "
Yet another Perfect entertainer produced from Molly-wood which keeps us stick to the seats. A movie with all ingredients in right proportion and it just impressed me at first instance itself. Felt like watching Dil chata Hai in Malayalam version. Totally loved it to the core , that beauty of friendship , colors of joy n pleasure it brings to you is just amazing. Dulquer Salmaan , Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim are best childhood friends and how their life takes them in different directions but at end bringing them together with a very cool happy ending becomes a great strength to this movie. Normally i am not a big time listener to music tracks in Malayalam but somehow this movie tracks kept me in hook and i never felt discomfort at any place. I rather enjoyed this movie to the core.
Special mention about the performance of Fahadh Faasil the way he carried himself at first half and how when truth reveals itself for his behavior following his changes from then on was really a exceptional performance from him . Nazriya the charm girl with her innocence n liveliness brought this whole movie and the characters together , i am sure without her this movie is nothing as she plays the core character of this movie. The way she manages herself as a wife and a good friend was really cool . Depth to characterization was really given much importance in this movie and may be a reason some might even feel the screenplay is bit slow or the run time is long but if you can connect with this movie , this is will be a experience for sure.
More to its credits this movie had stunning BGM throughout the movie especially with a splendid visuals were catchy to eyes and virtual treat too.. At last scene when that dog recognizes Faasil and the feeling it generates that time was really heart wrenching with a perfect BGM just uplifted this scene a lot. There are so many good moments in this entire movie talking which will be like a spoiler to those who haven't seen this movie yet. This movie really touched me and allowed me to travel with it . A lovely movie for sure and a must watch one. It was all in all director n writer Anjali Menon who brought this all together and delivered us a single magical package deserves a standing applause of bringing a movie like this. This movie will be my one of all time favorites in Malayalam and its just my experience , view and opinion. Enjoy watching.
Zila Ghaziabad ( 2013 )
Was in my watch list for quiet sometime for only reason being Vivek Oberoi performance in Raktha Charitra . Movie is yet again a routine story One common man gets into the line of faction in a misunderstanding and as one of his family member gets killed , Faction starts between two rival gangs one lead by Vivek and the other by Arshad Warsi . How Sanjay dutt steps in as police and handles this situation in his own way to stop the blood shed due to this revenge killing is the story. Though i liked VO performance but still i feel it was too cliche or rather unreal at most and moreover all characters over-performed their role which is a straight hit to our face. Moreover screenplay was too slow and sluggish which spoils the entire mood of the film. Sanjay Dutt as a rough and tough police played it well but yet the action sequences are too hard to digest.Movie is sure below average and one can watch for VO performance alone yet that said its not as comparable as he did in Raktha charitra. So pick it at will.
The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh ( 2012 )
If you are one who love movies on Arch Angels , demons and its related stories then this will be a must watch movie for you. Movie is very unique , doesn't have many characters in it and not even travels around many places but just a single protagonist and his experience in a single house which is left behind by his Mother after her demise. Fear can be brought in many ways but when visuals are used for that purpose its damn creepy for sure especially when he travels around that weird house going through all artifacts will be definitely spine chilling . Be sure you need to travel along with this movie and dont expect a fast screenplay on it , let the fear take its course slowly and there are too many things to decipher here. There are no Satan or ghosts but the angels them-self and what its portrayed is that as much as god is a image of love , he can also be a face of anger on people who dont have belief in him . This movie could be controversial too and the ending of the movie is quiet different as it says the real demon is idleness and a empty mind can allow lot of things saying Belief as everything. This is definitely will not appeal all audience but only few who enjoy horror in different forms and for one who see the inner meaning in each subjects discussed and shown. I liked this movie , not the best but still its sure a average one.
Ranjith's Madras ( 2014 ) Tamil - "A perfect Bell curve in terms of entertainment"
Ranjith's Madras is a typical pakka local mass movie taking us to the live-hood of North Chennai. Those who lived by these places would easily connect to this movie and even may give nostalgic feel as well while watching it. A feud between two political parties resulting in a rivalry between local groups with a Single Huge Wall taking center stage. It becomes a matter of pride for these political parties on deciding who gets to control that area so they could get their leader picture drawn on that wall and this struggle slowly turns into a gang war and faction. So much lives were lost in this process which ran for years and lot of blood has been shed to this cause. Karthi and his friend anbu end up in losing side and how they manage to get back control over that wall forms rest of the story.
First half was really engaging and it just keeps going in a good phase. Be it friendship , love , romance , fights it had everything to it. Karthi body language was totally different and was very apt for this role and lived up to the character . Even his dialogue delivery using perfect Chennai slang was cool. Catherine Tresa as Kalaiarasi paired up really well with karthi and their chemistry worked out very well. Those love proposal scenes between them were really nice and brought a nice feeler to this movie. There are so many goosebumps scenes in first half and scene before intermission was highlight. Songs were good and especially Chenna Wada Chenna was wonderful to watch on screen. I liked Karthi's Friend Anbu role also very much as he too plays important part in first half and johnny character was mind blowing too. Till intermission this movie gave me the best experience what i expected from this movie and it almost impressed me so much as i equally got impressed watching Naan Mahan Alla. I am sure first half raised expectation bar so high with a pitch perfect engaging screenplay and making was damn osm. Special mention is the BGM for this movie which really blended well with the visuals and gave the exact impact this movie tried to deliver. Though not all tracks were appreciable but yet a stunning job in terms of BGM and a standup applause to Santhosh Narayanan on that part.
Second half started and as expected with the outcome of scene before intermission , things slowed down a bit. Still it was agreeable to some part as the script demanded that slowness. But no sooner we had that unexpected incident in second half , things really got very slow. This added by three more Songs back to back , especially Gaana Bala song "Irandhidava" it became very sluggish. I rather felt that the song really didnot bring the impact it was expected. Not a perfect song for that situation. But yet the script was still on track until last 20 minutes it totally lost its track. One of worst climax for such a good movie i would say. There was no single logic to the climax and it was rather too cliche too even accept n convince our-self to our rational mind. Living in such a locality filled with young lads , our hero decides to take all antagonist single handed was illogical and definitely not impressive. It really lacked everything to it and thats why i mentioned bell curve as it brought the entertainment factor completely down at later half.
Verdict : I would not mind spending My 120 Rupees to just watch First half alone and few minutes of second half which is really well made. A perfect commercial subject which could easily reach to mass audience. But unfortunately second half screenplay was really not impressive and even more climax of this movie is logic-less and unsatisfactory. The second portion really stood as a spoiler to this entire movie and whatever audience experiencing this movie till that moment gets totally lost there. I personally felt so disappointing to see such a finish for if little care would have been taken , this would have been easily a best movie in this season but fate took its toll. Still Ranjith has done a wonderful job to the movie and i liked it definitely at parts. If it was me , i would rather walk out from theater before climax. A average movie which can be enjoyed with bunch of friends provided if you could digest few things in this movie. Not a bad one to be skipped especially considering the ground work done by Ranjith to bring the reality and nativity to this film which is the most captivating part in this film. One time must watch for this brave attempt . If you are a chennaity then enjoy it in Local theater with your area folks and you will definetly feel the fun in it. thanks.

The Possession of Michael King ( 2014 )
Movie started off like a Documentary where a person tries to learn black magic and to understand dark secrets after recent loss of his wife. So how things go wrong as he steps down deep into the subjects forms core plot of the story.
Movie was initially okay like when he tries to try different rituals and explores different methods of satanism , rituals it definitely keeps us in hook if you are a horror film liker and especially interested in occultism . It definitely stays that way for some time till he himself gets possessed by a demon in this process. From then on it becomes a very normal movie like a handcam ones and not that really engaging. More over the shaky video with a uncomfortable sounds at the background will definitely cause nausea. Still there were few scenes good enough to watch later part too..but its not completely engaging second half. If you are a fan of such dark arts , you might like this film but for others it will be below average. Give this a try if you happen to not have any other horror movies to watch
Chef ( 2014 ) :-
A very nice feel good movie and i can say a adventurous movie too portraying Father n son love so well and at the same time depicting passion of a chef towards his profession with love n soul towards his cooking.Mr.Iron Man cameo was cool though he comes on screen for only few seconds yet he steals the show with his own style of acting esp when he says " Everyone hates you , you are a turd which is good " was tailor made dialogues for him .
Movie is about twitter fight between a chef and online food critic which goes wrong costing the chef job. So as his life unfolds he starts up a food van for ready to eat sandwiches and as he drives the van from Miami to texas he gets so popular and trending everywhere in social networks. How he manages to get back his lost fame and at same time uses this little trip to understand his young son makes rest of the story.
Everything was so good about the movie except the ending which i feel didnot complete well as i feel it was way too rushed . Movie with such a story should create a inspiring feel rather there was a sense of urgency towards the end. The critic coming to him and talking about partnership was kind of realistic and i am not much convinced with it , instead it could have been in other way. Except that last few minutes i enjoyed every minute of it and i would say this is one of good drama released this year which not to be missed by any cinema lover. Enjoy watching.
WER ( 2013 )
There were so many werewolf movies but not many would explain them in details except the killing part and transformation. But yet there were movies based on werewolf like underworld , wolfman ( 2010 ) which i liked most and this movie WER will definitely be a part of it. The way this movie slowly develops the fear and suspense was great and how the phenomenon was scientifically explained was really good. The sheer power of such werewolf can be clearly seen in this movie and there were some scenes which was too graphic in nature. Yet it was one of good thrillers in this genre and ending was quiet a cliche yet it was okay as we could easily guess that out. One of underrated movie which went unnoticed to many and Definitely deserves one time watch for sure . Enjoy watching
Enakkul Oruvan (2014) Music Reivew :
-
Unlike the badly designed poster , i must say this tracks will uplift the movie. Santhosh had proved it yet again , sure he is damn good emerging talent . What a beauty of work he pulled off. Wonderful and i loved each and every song ( except Prabalamagavey which i didnt like ) , For a movie like Lucia when its remade , the expectation will be for sure high and i guess this lived up to the expectation and i am waiting to experience it with the Movie visuals. Its Just lovely.....
I tried to listen this song both in my Over the head Sony MDR-XD100 instead of my normal headphones and also with my iball 5.1 surround external speakers connected to Creative 5.1 surround card and i must stay both were really stunning . It was damn mesmerizing for sure
1) Endi Ippadi :- " Enn di ippadi yennaku unn mela ipppadi oru kirukku..thana vanda kanakku thala keela irukku " " Kalathukum nee yenakku kannukula venum , naan moodi therakum podum nee yenakku podum " ...wow , a localish lyrics attractive....Lovely music though a variety of gana bala style song , still it was peppy and lovely to hear..a different feel music and i bet this is wonderful . Nice folk kinda composing. Loved it and a special mention that humming..osm.
2) Kutti Poochi : Gives nostalgic feel like listening to Jigar's Kannamaa Kannamaa song..but still its very much listenable. Good one.
3) Yaar : Hypnotizing and breezy. My most favorite in entire album. A lovely feel and a pleasant experience listening to it. So much soothing and makes us travel along with this song. this will be my repeated play list. Been a while i listened to such slow moving yet catchy song . This will sure keep you hooked.
4) Poo Avizhum Pozhudhil : You beauty. Waaaah....Waaaah.....Santhosh Narayanan trademark song..damn cool and a good song on love . A song which u can just put in ur ear plug for a good sleep , a melody of love , a filler for music thirst . Nice song for sure and my second best in this album
